Keeping On The Right Side of Insurance Companies and Reporting Damage In a Timely Manner

Allpropertyclaims has represented many policyholders when they have made a claim to their insurerance company for damage to their property.  It's important to remember that when you buy a buildings insurance policy your insurance company is at risk for damage to your property up to a maximum of the entire cost to rebuild your home.  This is a very big risk.

When you decide to make a claim to insurers for water damage,  its vital that you notify insurers when you see signs of damage on your walls or floors even if you are not sure that you wish to make an insurance claim or you cannot find  your leak or you do not know what is causing the damage you can see.  Do this even if you think your damage will not be covered by the insurer.

Why is this ?

Remember while whatever is going on such as a hidden leak which you cant find or repair,  the resultant damage to your walls, floors or ceilings is increasing daily along with the cost to repair it.  In other words the bill that insurers would eventually have to pay in the insurance claim you might make would be higher.   In some cases insurance companies may reduce the amount they are willing to pay to repair the damage if it is not reported in a timely manner.  This can be quite disconcerting.   If you tell insurers about what you see sooner rather than later they may be able to help you find the cause of the leak or advise you to go to a leak detection specialist or even recommend one so that your leak can be found quickly and prevent further damage happening.

If you think you have an ongoing problem but don't know what you should do feel free to call us and we'll be happy to give you some useful tips as to what you should do to keep your insurance company on board in case you end up making an insurance claim.
